CATALYST FOR PRODUCING ETHYLENE OXIDE AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING ETHYLENE OXIDE USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst for producing ethylene oxide which has a small pressure loss and can suppress deterioration of catalytic capability (selectivity or the like) due to pressure loss and a method for manufacturing ethylene oxide using the catalyst.

SOLUTION: The catalyst for producing ethylene oxide contains a carrier 10 having a coil-like cylindrical material 11 spirally wound at prescribed intervals and a supporting rod 12 joined along the axial direction of the coil-like cylindrical material 11 and silver deposited thereon. The method for manufacturing ethylene oxide involves a vapor-phase contact oxidation of ethylene with a molecular oxygen-containing gas in the presence of the catalyst.
