摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner improved in air conditioning efficiency by accurately measuring a distance to an obstacle, and controlling a wind direction changing means on the basis of a measurement result of the distance. <P>SOLUTION: The air conditioner includes a human body detecting device to detect the presence or absence of a person, and an obstacle detecting device to detect the presence or absence of an obstacle mounted to an indoor unit, respectively, and the wind direction changing means mounted to the indoor unit is controlled based on a detection signal of the human body detecting device and a detection signal of the obstacle detecting device. The obstacle detecting device includes an ultrasonic sensor for transmitting and receiving an ultrasonic wave, and an obstacle position detecting means for transmitting a transmission signal to the ultrasonic sensor and detecting a position of the obstacle. A prescribed sound wave reception time period is set before the obstacle position detecting means transmits the transmission signal, so that the presence or absence of noise is determined based on a sound wave reception signal of the obstacle position detecting means after a lapse of the prescribed sound wave reception time period, and whether or not a determination result of the obstacle position detecting means should be updated is determined based on a determination result of the presence or absence of noise. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p>
