PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle body structure for preventing a pillar from entering a cabin, and attaining weight reduction. SOLUTION: In the vehicle body structure 10, a roof side rail outer 41 forming a vehicle body outer side part of a left roof side rail 13 opens toward the cabin 50 side, and includes a roughly horizontal upper wall 44. A pillar stiffener 21 is provided on an outer side of the vehicle body of the roof side rail outer 41, a horizontal flap 38 that can be roughly horizontally disposed to the upper wall 44 is provided at a joint bracket 25 of the pillar stiffener 21, the horizontal flap 38 is jointed to the upper wall 44 in an overlapped state, and the jointed horizontal flap 38 and the upper wall 44 are disposed at the roughly center of a closed section part 18.
