PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide tabular optical glass comprising fluorophosphate-based glass having such strength that does not cause breakage when external force such as vibration is applied even though it is thin-walled one; and a method for processing the end face of the tabular optical glass. SOLUTION: This tabular optical glass having optically acting surfaces comprises fluorophosphate-based glass and enables to provide high strength tabular optical glass that does not break even when external force such as vibration is applied even though it is thin-walled one, because the maximum value of crack length at ridge line portions is 0.02 mm or less and the bending strength is 65 N/mm<SP>2</SP>or more, by performing etching treatment of the glass, although it comprises fluorophosphate glass which is relatively low in hardness among glass materials.
