The invention relates to a method for the all-round improvement of the military and operating characteristics of a rifled gun and to a rifled gun barrel device. The method consists in displacing compressed air into the space behind the projectile via discontinuous and/or longitudinal inclined grooves, into which the air is forced. The discontinuous grooves increase the pressure of the air to a pressure greater than that of the explosive gases. Once the groove is opened, the air is released into the space behind the projectile, slowing the fall in pressure of the explosive gases. Compressing the air either in a portion or in all of the discontinuous grooves to a pressure less than that in the space behind the projectile makes it possible for the explosive gases to enter a groove and expand and also permits an impact on the wall of the groove. The rifled barrel contains discontinuous grooves which are longitudinal and/or longitudinal and inclined. The inclined longitudinal grooves run along the rifling. The discontinuous grooves are formed in the barrel channel, staring from the section where the bullet enters the rifling. The result is an increase in the initial velocity of the bullet and in the accuracy of fire, and a reduction in the report, the heating of the barrel and the recoil. |
