<p>An alcohol compound useful as a starting material or intermediate for coating materials, adhesives, medicines, cosmetics, food additives, surfactants, etc., and a process for producing the compound. The alcohol compound is represented by general formula (1) (wherein A represents an aromatic ring selected from a group consisting of benzene, naphthalene, anthracene, phenanthrene, and pyrene rings; R1 represents a C1-12 alkyl, an (un)substituted C6-10 aryl, or a halogen atom; n is an integer of 0-4, provided that when A is a benzene ring, n is an integer of 1-4 and that when n is an integer of 2-4, the multiple R1s may be the same or different; and R2 represents a hydrogen atom, methyl, or ethyl).</p> |
