IMPROVEMENTS IN ASSEMBLED CAMSHAFTS

An assembled camshaft (50) is described for mounting on an engine cylinder head which comprises a cam lobe supporting shaft (52), one or more cam lobes ( 56,58) formed separately from the shaft (52) and fitted to the shaft for rotation therewith, and bearing surfaces on the shaft to enable the assembled camshaft to be rotatably supported by the engine cylinder head. In the invention, one-piece plain bearing components (60) are mounted on the bearing surfaces of the shaft during assembly of the camshaft (50).
