<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oxygen reduction catalyst which uses a smaller amount of noble metals than the platinum catalyst and which has the equivalent or more of the oxygen reduction ability to that of the platinum fine particle catalyst. <P>SOLUTION: The oxygen reduction catalyst contains an organic metal polymer wherein the organic metal polymer contains an organic polymer, a counter ion and a metal. The main chain or a part of the main chain, or the side chain or a part of the side chain of the organic polymer consists of a heterocyclic five-membered ring, a heterocyclic six-membered ring or a condensed ring thereof containing at least one selected from among nitrogen (N), oxygen (O), sulfur (S) and selenium (Se). The counter ion contains an anion group having an organic skeleton and the metal contains at least one selected from the group consisting of a transition metal and a noble metal. The metal can be coordinated with the counter ion or any one of nitrogen (N), oxygen (O), sulfur (S) and selenium (Se) included in the organic polymer. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
