PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical module capable of reducing disadvantages, such as raise in cost, associated with an increase in the number of fusing points, deterioration of output and an increase in the number of optical components. SOLUTION: A fusing connection portion 20B between an amplification optical fiber 11 and a propagation optical fiber 16 is directly covered with an excitation light removing resin 31B having a refraction index higher than that of a first clad 112 of the amplification optical fiber 11 by removing a coating resin (second clad 113, resin 163). With this configuration, a transmitted excitation light which cannot be confined by the first clad 112 can effectively be escaped to the outside of the fiber. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
