<p>An object recognition device and object recognition method which have a simple configuration and allow estimation of the sizes of an object detected by radar. The device is provided with a detection means which detects the object in front of a vehicle by irradiating the object with electromagnetic waves and receiving reflected waves reflected by the object, a target information calculation means which through the use of a signal received by the detection means, calculates information containing the moving direction of the detected object as target information, a vehicle information calculation means which through the use of information obtained from the vehicle, calculates information containing the moving direction of the vehicle as vehicle information, and a processing means which on the basis of information indicating the moving direction of the object contained in the target information and information indicating the moving direction of the vehicle contained in the vehicle information, estimates which section of the object detected by the detection means has reflected the electromagnetic waves, and calculates corresponding to the result of the estimation an area which includes the object with respect to the vehicle.</p> |
