<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To operate a heat pump unit with an optimum heating capacity according to an amount used of hot water at a hot water supply terminal. <P>SOLUTION: In this hot water supply device, the heat pump unit is operated by an rated operation (step S2) when the amount of remaining hot water in a hot water storage tank is reduced to a rated operation start remaining hot water amount or smaller. When the amount of remaining hot water is reduced to a powerful operation start remaining hot water amount (second remaining hot water amount ) after the start of the rated operation, the heat pump unit is operated by an powerful operation (step S5). When the amount of remaining hot water is recovered to a powerful operation termination remaining hot water amount (third remaining hot water amount), (step S6:Yes), the heat pump unit is returned to the rated operation (step S8).
