<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide film-like graphite which is thick and includes excellent physical properties by manufacturing it by a heat treatment at a relatively low temperature for a short time. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This method for manufacturing the film-like graphite includes a step of preparing a polyimide film having birefringence of ≥0.12 and a step of heat-treating the polyimide film at a temperature of ≥2,400°C.
