<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high pressure pump with excellent durability, transmitting a thrust force on a wide contact face on a plunger side, and preventing an eccentric contact or edge contact of a sliding member even when a drive cam is inclined. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This high pressure pump provided with: a drive cam 14 driving a plunger 12; and a check valve on an emission side, includes: a cam follower 19 interposed between the drive cam 14 and the plunger 12, slidably guided to the pump housing 11 in an axial direction of the plunger 12 and engaged with the drive cam 14; and a lifter 17 arranged between the cam follower 19 and the plunger 12 and slidably guided to the pump housing 11 in the axial direction of the plunger 12. The cam follower 19 and the lifer 17 have one sliding face 19a and the other sliding face 17a in a split cylindrical face form having an arc cross section face forming a convex shape from one to the other of the cam follower 19 and the lifter 17.
