PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector capable of achieving more miniaturization than a conventional projector, and also, enhancing light usage efficiency more than the conventional projector. SOLUTION: The projector 1000 includes: a solid light source device 50 including a red LED 10R, a green LED 10G and blue LED 10B, configured to successively emit red, green and blue light in a time-division drive manner; an integrator optical system 100 including a light guide rod 110 for uniformizing light intensity distribution and a light guide optical system 120; an optical modulator 200 including a polarized beam splitter 210 configured to reflect one of polarized light and transmit the other, a first reflection type liquid crystal panel 220 and a second reflection type liquid crystal panel 230 for modulating the one and the other polarized light in accordance with image information, respectively; and a projection optical system 300 configured to project the light emitted from the optical modulator 200 toward a projection screen.
