<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain battery power consumption due to an unnecessary operation state of other control devices while rewriting one control device among a plurality of control devices. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The rewriting system includes a rewriting execution control device taking in rewriting information through memory media or communication in the vehicle ignition on state, specifying a control device to be rewritten, and informing the specified control device of the fact that it is a target to be rewritten, and a means detecting that the vehicle ignition is switched off. The control devices other than the rewriting target control device and the rewriting execution control device are shifted to a stop state in which operation stops by cut-off of a main power corresponding to detection of ignition switching off, and the rewriting execution control device executes rewriting the taken-in rewriting information on the rewriting target control device corresponding to the fact that the rewriting target control device becomes a rewritable state, thus reducing battery power consumption during rewriting.
