The element (1) has a cover (10) provided in a region of a lateral face (4) of the panel element, where the lateral face laterally limits the panel element. The cover is adhered with the panel element, where the lateral face and the cover define a stepped formation on the panel element. Top and bottom surfaces (2, 3) of the panel element are extended over respective bends (8, 9) formed in the lateral face. The cover extends over the region of the bends, where the cover conforms to the design of the bends. An independent claim is also included for a method for fabricating a panel element utilized for producing a door leaf.
