PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid ill-conditioned cases of special input signals, makes the modified auto-correlation coefficients more suitable for subsequent compression, improves the compression efficiency of a lossless coder and the quality of reconstructed speech signals of a lossy coder, and involves only simple operations. SOLUTION: A signal compression method for audible sound (audio, voice) includes: calculating an original auto-correlation coefficient of a windowed input signal by multiplying a window function by the input signal; calculating a white noise correction factor or a lag window, according to the original auto-correlation coefficient; calculating a modified auto-correlation coefficient according to the original auto-correlation coefficient, the white noise correction factor and the lag window; calculating a linear prediction coefficient according to the modified auto-correlation coefficient; and outputting a bit stream which is coded according to the linear prediction coefficient.
