<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an vending machine operating an illumination device as the need arises even when the illumination device has stop setting in disaster occurrence. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This vending machine 1 is provided with: the illumination device 13 for illuminating an article display part 4 or an advertisement part 5; and a communication disaster detection means 14 detecting that a disaster occurs by an FM electric wave or the like. When the communication disaster detection means receives the disaster occurrence, an arithmetic control part 30a lights the illumination device 13 even when the illumination device 13 stops. Thereby, when an installation destination of the vending machine 1 is in a very dark installation situation without an electric lamp or the like, the vending machine 1 can serve as an emergency light to impart security sense to the periphery.
