<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide shock absorbing structure, controlling absorption of an impact load while exhibiting a structure intrinsic strength. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This shock absorbing structure 1 is provided with: plate members 2 extended along a load direction of the impact load F0, and layered so that end parts 5 on this side in a load direction are mutually shifted; and a junction part 3 provided between the plate members 2, and for joining the plate members 2 each other. A strength of the plate member 2 is higher than a strength of the junction member 3. A shearing force acts on the junction part 3 before the plate member 2 is damaged, when the impact load F0 is loaded, and the junction part 3 is damaged to absorb the impact load, in the shock absorbing structure 1.
