<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a trash box capable of expanding capacity by compressing a volume of the trash. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The trash box includes a storage vessel 1 for storing the trash; a lid 2 openably/closably and pivotally supported on the upper end opening 3a of the storage vessel 1; an opening/closing mechanism for opening/closing the lid body 2; and an inner lid 14 provided with an opening 1a capable of penetrating a pressing weight 6 mounted to the lid 2. Since the trash in the storage vessel 1 is compressed through the pressing weight 6 when the lid 2 is closed, the volume of the trash can be compressed and the capacity can be expanded.
