<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing a coating film capable of carrying out coating using a photogravure coater while suppressing the distribution of the coated amount of a coating liquid and controlling the physical property of the coating liquid even if the coating liquid exhibits a high viscosity in a low shear rate range thereof, and a coating device. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A coating liquid is supplied from a lower part of a liquid receiver pan 21 through a feed port 24 to fill the liquid receiver pan 21 with the coating liquid from the lower part thereof toward the upper part. The coating liquid disposed on the outermost surface is placed on a photogravure roller 12 to measure the amount thereof by a doctor knife 20, and is subsequently applied to a substrate 10.
