PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sense/prevent the oblique feeding of a transported medium. SOLUTION: A skew sensing device includes a plurality of sensing means for sensing a transported medium, a storing means for storing data at normal transportation sensed in the sensing means including a range acceptable as normal transportation, and a comparison means for determining whether oblique transportation is carried out by comparing a sensing result at the time of transporting the medium with the data stored in the memory means.
