Methods and systems for forming members from strips of thermally conductive material which have a generally central longitudinal slot are described. The slot is bridged by a material, e.g., a polymer, with low thermal conductivity. This provides a thermal break which inhibits the flow of heat between the conductive portions of the member. This construction can also block the transfer of sound and other vibrations between the conductive portions of the member. The slot is formed in a strip of thermally conductive material, with the slot being bridged at intervals by bridging junctions of the thermally conductive material. The bridging junctions may be removed after the low thermal conductivity material is applied. |
