PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carbazole derivative that has a wide band gap which affords excellent blue color purity, and to provide a highly reliable light-emitting element, a light-emitting device and electronic equipment using the carbazole derivative. SOLUTION: The carbazole derivative is represented by general formula (1). The carbazole derivative is also represented by general formula (P1). The carbazole derivative is also represented by general formula (M1). The light-emitting element, the light-emitting device and the electronic equipment are obtained using the carbazole derivative represented by general formula (1), general formula (P1) or general formula (M1).
