<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transformation strain measuring method capable of being easily adapted to heat treatment equipment and capable of simply and inexpensively constituting the heat treatment equipment. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The transformation strain measuring method comprises: the measurement of the temperature of a work 1 and the strain produced in the work 1 at the time of heat treatment; calculation of the heating transformation start point being the temperature measured value of the work 1 at the time when transformation strain begins to occur in the work 1 at the time of heating of heat treatment is on the basis of the strain measured value of the work 1; calculation of the assumption formula, which is the relational expression of the temperature change and strain quantity of the work 1 in a case that it is assumed that the transformation strain does no occur, on the basis of the temperature measured value and strain measured value of the work 1 during the period reaching the heating transformation start point from the start time of heating; and calculation of the transformation strain produced in the work 1 at the time of heating by subtracting the strain measured value of the work 1 from the strain value calculated on the basis of the assumption formula of the work 1 at the time when it is assumed that no transformation occurs in the work 1 at the time of heating.
