PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst for polymerization of an α-olefin being excellent in a molecular weight control property by hydrogen and capable of manufacturing an α-olefin polymer with high activity and high stereo-regularity, and a manufacturing method for an α-olefin polymer. SOLUTION: The catalyst for polymerization of the α-olefin is obtained by contacting the following components (A)-(C): (A) a solid catalyst component containing a titanium atom, a magnesium atom and a halogen atom as indispensable components and being a solid catalyst component obtained by contacting a solid catalyst component precursor obtained by reducing a titanium compound (ii) represented by formula (I) by an organic magnesium compound (iii), a halogen-containing compound (b) and an electron donor (c) in the presence of a silicon compound (i) having a Si-O bond, (B) an organic aluminum compound, and (C) an electron donor compound represented by formula (II): R<SP>2</SP>Si(OEt)<SB>3</SB>(II).
