<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for preventing the failure of paper carriage due to the slip of paper, and for preventing the deterioration of image quality caused by the slip of paper. <P>SOLUTION: When a slip of paper is determined by number-of-steps determination means, a display for prompting a user to make a carriage mechanism to carry a cleaning paper sheet is performed in a display part. Therefore, trash and dust such as paper powder that cause the paper slip is removed from the peripheral surface of a loading roller by the user making the carriage mechanism to carry a cleaning paper sheet instead of a normal paper sheet, following the display on the display part. Consequently, since the paper slip is resolved before the paper slip becomes so large as to cause the carriage mechanism to fail in paper carriage, the failure of paper carriage due to the enlarging of the paper slip is prevented.
