<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal backlight device with high reliability and high efficiency. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal backlight device includes a plurality of thermionic cathode fluorescent tubes 1-4 of a straight tube shape, irradiating light to a diffusion plate 17. The thermionic cathode fluorescent tubes 1-4 have one mount formed higher than the other mount. Out of the plurality of thermionic cathode fluorescent tubes 1-4, the thermionic cathode tubes 1, 3 are so arranged that a coldest spot to be formed on a higher mount side can be positioned outside of one side face reflection plate 13 of a space surrounded by a main reflection plate 15 and a pair of side reflection plates 13, 14, and the remaining thermionic cathode fluorescent tubes 2, 4 are so arranged that a coldest spot to be formed on a higher mount side can be positioned outside of the other side face reflection plate 14 of the space surrounded by the main reflection plate 15 and the pair of the side face reflection plates 13, 14. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
