<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of properly adjusting transfer current even if there exists inflow current to a transfer voltage applying means. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: a transfer means 30 transferring a developer image carried on an image carrier means 27 to a medium to be recorded in response to application of transfer voltage Vtp; an applying means 62 applying the transfer voltage Vtp to the transfer means 30; a voltage detection means 73 detecting the transfer voltage Vtp; an inflow current detection means 84 detecting the inflow current Ii flowing into the applying means 62 from the electrified image carrier means 27; and a transfer current detection means 84 detecting transfer current Itp by the application of the transfer voltage Vtp. A decision means 61 decides causative voltage Vx causing the inflow current Ii, and a calculation means 61 calculates load resistance of the applying means 62 by using the transfer voltage Vtp, the transfer current Itp and the causative voltage Vx.
