<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve optical performance of a retractable lens barrel holding a plurality of lens groups, with respect to a photographic optical system comprising the plurality of lens groups. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The lens barrels are connected by a so-called key way structure.
