<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an energy absorbing structure for developing a high breaking load while reducing a peak load when impact is applied thereto. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The energy absorbing structure 1 includes a honeycomb core 3 having a plurality of cells 2, and a plurality of cylindrical members 4 inserted into the cells 2, respectively, and adapted to be gradually broken in the axial direction when impact is applied thereto. The honeycomb core 3 is formed in a honeycomb structure where several equilateral-hexagonal columnar cells 2 are tightly arrayed. Each cylindrical member 4 is a cylindrical pipe formed of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP). When grounding impact is applied to the energy absorbing structure 1, the honeycomb core 3 and the cylindrical members 4 are gradually broken at the same time, resulting in higher energy absorbing characteristics than in the case that no cylindrical members 4 exist.
