PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pipe-shaped supporting post by which the absorbed amount of impact energy is increased, and the absorbed amount of impact energy is made equal in cases when the impact forces are applied from one direction and from another direction. SOLUTION: The pipe-shaped supporting post 100 includes a base plate 10 and a square steel pipe 40 which is inserted into a hole 14 for the supporting post formed in the base plate 10 and is fixed thereby a welding part W1. Side faces 41b, 41d connect a front face 41a, to which a bending load of the square steel pipe 40 is applied, and a rear face 41c opposite to the front face 41a. Vertical slits 50b, 50d are respectively formed in width-directional centers of the side faces 41b, 41d within a predetermined range near a lower end 43. The pipe-shaped supporting post 100 is placed on a median strip with the front face 41a and the rear face 41c parallel to the direction of a traffic lane of a road or the direction of a bridge axis.
