<p>A feature amount selecting device is provided with a feature amount extracting means which extracts M types of feature amounts from a plurality of original images and a plurality of modified images obtained by subjecting the plurality of original images to modification processing, and a feature amount selecting means which, on condition that an original image and a modified image thereof, and modified images of identical original images are defined as identical images, and images other than the identical images are defined as different images, evaluates the M types of feature amounts extracted from each of the images using the level of discrimination capability at which different images can be discriminated from each other and the level of robustness at which the value of the feather amount is not changed by the modification processing performed on the image as an evaluation reference, and selects a set of N (which is smaller than M) types of feature amounts, as the feature amount for image discrimination, from among the M types of feature amounts.</p> |
