At this time, when the pressure in the fuel rail reaches prescribed constant residual pressure or lower, the fuel flow passages 87, 88 are blocked. Furthermore, by a mechanical relief valve 73, when the pressure in the fuel rail reaches the relief pressure or higher exceeding the allowable range, a relief valve element 81 moves so that fuel flow passages 75, 76, 79 are opened, and the return flow passage 71 functions.
