The container e.g. cartridge (10), has a hollow space (16) receiving adhesives or sealants (17) to be discharged. A valve is provided with a sealing unit (107) and a sleeve (101) that includes a discharge opening (111) and a channel (102), where the sleeve is movable between opening and closed positions of the valve relative to the container and towards the hollow space in the opening position of the valve to discharge the adhesives or sealants from the hollow space via the discharging opening. A piston (14) is provided within the hollow space. An independent claim is also included for a dispensing system having a container for discharging pourable or pasty substances.
