REACTANT FEED SYSTEM FOR ENGINE EXHAUST GAS TREATMENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reactant feed system, by thawing frozen solid reactant into a liquid form to feed the liquid reactant to an exhaust system.

SOLUTION: A reactant feed system (18) for engine exhaust gas treatment includes: a tank (48) in which a reactant is accommodated; a pumping device (64); a pressure relief device (84); and a reactant feeding device. The pumping device (64) has: an inlet (74) disposed within the interior of the tank (48) to accommodate the reactant; and an outlet (76) through which the reactant is discharged. The pressure relief device (84) has: an inlet (86) communicating with the outlet (76) of the pumping device (64); a primary outlet (90) to discharge the reactant under pressure to a downstream location; and a bypass outlet (92) through which at least some of the reactant discharged from the pumping device (64) is selectively discharged. The reactant feeding device communicates with the bypass outlet (92) of the pressure relief device (84) and has a plurality of outlets (114) to feed the reactant to at least two different locations within the tank.
