<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a component mounting line and a component mounting method for eliminating the necessity of performing an input operation by an operator on an inspection device side when an alternative component is used in a component mounter. <P>SOLUTION: When the alternative component of a component P of a certain type is mounted on a mounting position of a substrate PB instead of the component P, a component mounter 4 of the component mounting line creates alternative component-related data including information for identifying the substrate PB having the alternative component and the mounting position where the alternative component is mounted on the substrate PB and information indicating the type of the alternative component, and transmits the data to a post-mounting inspection machine 5.
