PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To load paper arranged finely on a U-shape state retaining member of a paper reception table even if the discharged paper is misaligned in a width direction in a paper reception processing method with a paper reception tray that loads the paper discharged in the U-shape state while retaining it in the U-shape state. SOLUTION: A paper receiver 3 includes the paper reception table 41, the U-shape state retaining member 42, and a pair of width guides 44, 45 arranged at a distance shorter than a width of the paper for restraining positions of both ends of the paper in the width direction. One width guide 44 is fixed to a guide position, and the other width guide 45 is movable between the guide position and a withdrawn position distant from the guide position further outside in the paper width direction. By moving the other width guide 45 to the guide position using a drive mechanism during or after a fall of the paper, the centerline of the paper in the paper width direction is aligned with the centerline of the U-shape state retaining member 42.
