<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connecting member capable of connecting members constituting a temporary scaffold or the like simply, securely, and firmly, and to provide a brace member for the temporary scaffold provided with the connecting member. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This connecting member 5 is provided with a body 8 having an insertion piece 12 to be inserted into a receiving fitting 6 to be connected and a wedge piece 9 nipping the receiving fitting 6 between the insertion piece 12 and the wedge piece 9. This connecting member is provided with a long hole 14 provided in the body 8 and a holding pin 13 fixed to the wedge piece 9 and supported movably in the long hole 14. The wedge piece 9 is supported on the body 8 to move freely in the direction for inserting the insertion piece 12 into the receiving fitting 6 and to rotate freely in the direction for backing for the receiving fitting 6.
