摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing xylylenediamine stably, economically and in a high yield while prolonging a catalyst life in the production of xylylenediamine by hydrogenating dicyanobenzene obtained by ammoxidation of xylene. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The molten dicyanobenzene from which compounds having a boiling point higher than that of dicyanobenzene are not removed while compounds having a boiling point lower than that of dicyanobenzene have been removed is dissolved in a solvent containing liquid ammonia to precipitate at least part of dicyanobenzene polymers as insolubles. The solution having a reduced content of the dicyanobenzene polymers which is prepared by subjecting the precipitates to solid/liquid separation is hydrogenated, xylylenediamine is produced in a high yield, and the life of a hydrogenation catalyst is prolonged.
