PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact paper feeding mechanism for a printer suitably used when an energizing mechanism for energizing a paper presser roller to a paper feed roller using a torsion spring or a coil spring cannot be used. SOLUTION: The paper feeding mechanism for the printer includes the paper feed roller, the paper presser roller, and a torsion bar 27 energizing the paper presser roller to the paper feed roller. The torsion bar 27 is formed, by bending a torsion bar material of circular cross section, with linear portions 271, 272, both end latching arms 274, 275 to which force for generating torsion to the linear portions is applied, and a roller shaft presser portion 273 energizing a roller shaft 26a of the paper presser roller by twisting force generated to the linear portions. The latching arms 274, 275 are latched to the body frame side of the printer. The roller shaft 26a of the paper presser roller 26 can thereby be energized by the roller shaft presser portion 273.
