PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device capable of stably fixing an image without causing wrinkles on an envelop. SOLUTION: The fixing device 22 includes a fixing pressure switching mechanism configured to stretch an endless fixing belt 27 to be laid between a pressure roller 25 and a tension roller 26, bring the pressure roller 25 in abutment with a heating roller 24 through the fixing belt 27, and switching a fixing mode to a high pressure mode where the fixing pressure is set high or a low pressure mode where the fixing pressure is set low. In the fixing mode, the fixing pressure is set to zero, and the paper is sandwiched between the fixing belt 27 and the heating roller 24 only with the tension of the fixing belt 27, then, the carried toner image is fixed on the paper. Besides, the fixing device includes an entrance guide switching mechanism of switching the angle of an entrance guide 30 disposed on the upstream side of a fixing nip N formed by the heating roller 24 and the pressure roller 25 in the paper conveying direction cooperatively with the fixing pressure switching operation by the fixing pressure switching mechanism.
