The device (1) has a variable nozzle turbocharger (4), a compressor-lateral pre-guidance apparatus (5) and a control device (6) for adjusting both the turbocharger and the pre-guidance apparatus. The pre-guidance apparatus is formed as a variable compressor geometry with rotatably supported guide vanes, and/or the variable nozzle turbocharger has rotatably supported guide vanes. The turbocharger and the pre-guidance apparatus are coupled with one another by connecting elements (9, 9') that is designed as a spring-loaded push pull cable or as a connecting rod.
