PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus, an image formation control method, an image formation control program and a recording medium which efficiently execute printing of a plurality of pages and at the same time efficiently holds the apparatus. SOLUTION: A laser printer 1 makes a printing request from a controller 100 to an engine 200 for every page of drawing data and outputs a specific process request such as fixing and cleaning for every prescribed number of printed pages, and when the engine 200 receives the printing request, respective parts for a printing process such as a photoreceptor, a charging part to a cleaning part in a body unit 1 are started and printing of the page is executed. Then, when a next printing request is not received within a prescribed waiting time after receiving the printing request, an inquiry for the existence of a next page is made to the controller 100. Next, when a reply that the drawing data for the next page exists is received from the controller 100, completion of the printing process is stopped only for the prescribed waiting time, reception of the next printing request is waited for, and when a specific process request is made during this time, the specific process is executed.
