PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the consumption of battery power without exerting a bad effect on diagnosis in an ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus. SOLUTION: The ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus has: an ultrasonic probe for transmitting an ultrasonic wave to a scanning region and receiving the echo based on the ultrasonic wave, an apparatus body for controlling the operation of the ultrasonic probe to form the ultrasonic image based on the echo to thereby display the same; a battery 13 for supplying power to the ultrasonic probe and the apparatus body; a battery power residual quantity measuring section 31 for measuring the residual quantity of the power of the battery 13; a mode setting section 33 for altering and setting a labor non-saving mode to an image quality preferential mode, which prefers the image quality of the ultrasonic image, or a function preferential mode, which prefers the functions of both of the ultrasonic probe and the apparatus body, as a labor saving mode in a case that the residual quantity of power is a threshold value or below; and a supply power control section 34 for restricting the power supplied to the ultrasonic probe and the apparatus body according to the labor saving mode.
