PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tape cassette by which it can be grasped whether the cassette is loaded on a proper position of a cassette mounting section. SOLUTION: In the tape cassette, an arm 34 which guides a tape drawn out of a tape spool toward a head insertion portion is formed in a boxlike cassette case 31 in which the tape spool with the tape wound around is stored. The arm 34 includes an inner wall 34c opposed to the head insertion portion, an outer wall 34b which constitutes an arm front surface as a part of side surfaces of the cassette case 31, regulating guide portions 34e and 34f which regulate movement in a width direction of the film tape 59 and the like. An arm identification portion 800 is prepared on the arm front surface comprised of the outer wall 34b which selectively presses a part of a plurality of detection switches which project toward the side surface of the cassette case 31 disposed in the cassette mounting section.
