The method involves automatically releasing an electrical parking brake (10) during start request based on an operating parameter e.g. vehicle speed. A vehicle (1) is driven with an electric motor (3) for starting the vehicle. An internal combustion engine (2) is started with the motor when the engine is switched off. The vehicle is driven with the motor and the engine. Generator operation of the motor is activated during break request based on the parameter. A driving brake (8) is activated, and the parking brake is automatically locked during stopping the vehicle after a defined delay time. An independent claim is also included for a vehicle including a hybrid drive with an internal combustion engine.
