The device has a magnetic field receiving and converting unit (15) for receiving magnetic field and converting the magnetic field to an electrical measurement signal, where the magnetic field receiving and converting unit is connected to an evaluation unit (13). The evaluation unit evaluates the electrical measurement signal. An excitation coil (14) is situated in a sensor catheter (12) and connected to an alternating current generator (11). The alternating current generator generates alternating current and sends the alternating current to the coil for generating the magnetic field. The magnetic field receiving and converting unit is selected from a magnetic field sensor such as Hall sensor or giant magneto resistance (GMR) sensor. An independent claim is also included for a method for determining state of degradation of implants containing degradable metallic components. |
