The invention relates to an edge strip for retaining a filter cloth, the edge strip comprising a base to be fixed to a frame member and a connection portion to be connected to the filter cloth. The edge strip for retaining a filter cloth is characterized in that a two wing structure with a first wing and a second wing extending in substantially opposite directions from the base is provided, the first wing forms the connection portion for connecting the filter cloth and the second wing is arranged obliquely with respect to the first wing and projects from the plane of the connection portion.
