The device has a folding top compartment linkage (12), an actuating lever (18), coupling levers (19, 23), a support lever (20) and control levers (21, 22) interconnected to form a seven-bar linkage system. The compartment linkage is pivotably connected to a main bearing (11) of a vehicle body. The support lever is mounted on a cover (8) of a folding top compartment (9) i.e. trunk. A drive unit (13) drives one of the control levers pivotably connected to the support lever and cooperating with the compartment linkage via the coupling lever to actuate the linkage system. An independent claim is also included for a convertible vehicle comprising a folding top compartment.
